Jānis Baumanis // World RX

Name: Jānis Baumanis
Date of birth: 15.06.1992.
Nationality: Latvian
Car: Ford Fiesta

Jānis Baumanis kicked off his motorsport career in crosskarts at the age of 15 before trying his hand at rallycross for the first time in 2008 in the NEZ Rallycross Championship. Over the next two seasons Baumanis won two championship titles in his native Latvia and one Baltic championship title, following it up with European Super1600 and Estonian Rallycross Supercar titles in 2015.

Following a handful of World RX Supercar starts in 2014 and 2015, Baumanis received a full season campaign in 2016 as part of the World RX Team Austria outfit, securing a best finish of fourth place in Barcelona. A move to Team STARD for 2017 yielded a popular run to the final on home soil in Latvia, as well as a season’s best fifth place and 12th overall. This season, Baumanis continues at the wheel of the Ford Fiesta with Team STARD with a view to securing his first World RX podium. So far, he has reached the semi-final in nearly every round, missing a top 12 position just once. Jānis Baumanis is currently the only Latvian to have received a Monster Energy Supercharge Award, for the best reaction time at the start of the final in Canada.

Reinis Nitišs // Euro RX // Supercar

Name: Reinis Nitišs
Date of birth: 16.12.1995.
Nationality: Latvian
Team: SET Promotion
Car: Ford Fiesta

Reinis Nitišs began his motorsport career in karting at the age of seven. By the age of 13, he had secured Latvian and Baltic titles. In the following years Nitišs moved to rallycross and by 2012, he had won the Estonian, Baltic and NEZ championships. In 2013, Nitišs campaigned his first full season of the FIA European Rallycross Championship in the Super 1600 class and brought home the title by winning six out of nine races.

In 2014 Nitišs moved to headline World RX Supercar category with Ford Olsbergs MSE and finished the year third overall. For 2016, Nitišs joined the German ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport to compete full-time, before ending the season competing for OMSE. In 2017, Nitišs joined the EKS team of Mattias Ekstrom to end the season 14th overall. This season Nitišs has switched to Euro RX to drive an M-Sport built Ford Fiesta prepared by Set Promotion. The smaller number of events makes it possible for Nitišs to try his hand at other motorsports disciplines – touring car racing, rallying and buggy racing. Meanwhile, the European Championship has become more prestigious this year, with lots of intense and exciting battles, including the Latvian driver. Heading into the final round, two wins have given the Jēkabpils native a 26 point lead over Cyril Raymond and 30 points over last year’s champion Anton Marklund. This means that reaching the semi-final will make Nitišs champion, regardless of how his competitors do in the event.

Artis Baumanis // Euro RX // Super1600

Name: Artis Baumanis
Date of birth: 17.02.1990.
Nationality: Latvian
Team: Volland Racing
Car: Audi A1

Artis Baumanis started his rallycross career in 2014 at the wheel of a Super1600 car in the Estonian and the Northern European Championship, winning the NEZ title in his debut season. In 2015, Baumanis competed in the Rallycross Challenge Europe where he ranked second overall in the Super1600 class while also participating in select races of the European Rallycross Championship.

It was just a natural progression for Baumanis to move to the European Championship full-time in 2016 where he ranked fifth overall. In 2017, Baumanis joined Volland Racing and fought for the title, admitting the primacy of his team-mate Krisztian Szabo only at the very end of the season. In 2018, Baumanis continues to drive a Škoda Fabia or Audi A1 prepared by Volland Racing, making every effort to become a European champion – to repeat the achievement of his brother Jānis Baumanis (2015) and Reinis Nitišs (2013). Doing so might lead to a future in the Supercar class, as it is no secret that champions are looked at by both sponsors and competing teams in the paddock. Victories in the first two rounds and a consistent showing throughout the season have put Artis in the lead of the championship with two rounds to go. With CSDD Biķernieki Circuit hosting the penultimate event, it is likely that the champion will be determined in the final round at Estering, Germany.

Arnis Odiņš // Euro RX // Super1600

Name: Arnis Odiņš
Date of birth: 11.05.1988.
Nationality: Latvian
Team: TT Motorsport
Car: Renault Twingo

In 2015, Arnis Odiņš became Latvian and Baltic autocross champion in the VAZ class, but in 2016 he added a national champion’s title in the 1600 class as well. Odiņš debut in rallycross was last year, when he finished fourth overall in the NEZ Super 1600 class championship. In addition to that, the Latvian took part in two rounds of the Super1600 European Championship, showing promising results in both. His highlight was a reaching the semi-final in front of local fans in Rīga. For 2018, a decision was made to compete in the Latvian and Estonian Rallycross Championships, and in the Latvian round of the Super1600 European Championship, at the CSDD Biķernieki Circuit.
