Travel to Latvia
Latvia is located in Northern Europe, on the shore of the Baltic Sea, and is bordered by Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus and Russia.
With a relatively low population – around two million – Latvia is one of the smallest countries in the European Union, but definitely among the most welcoming – most locals speak in three languages: Latvian, Russian and either English or German.
Rīga International Airport (RIX) is located just 20 kilometres, or around a half an hour drive, from the Biķernieki track. With more than 80 direct flight destinations in over 30 countries, Rīga airport is the quickest and most convenient way to come to Latvia.
Rīga passenger port is located near the city centre, just 10 kilometres from the Biķernieki track. Every two days, a passenger ship sails between Rīga and Stockholm. Venstpils port (~200 km from the Biķernieki track) offers regular ferries with Nynashamn (Sweden). Ferries from Nynashamn also travel to the Liepāja port (~220 km from the Biķernieki track), as do ferries from Travemunde (Germany).
